Shantee House and the people I have met there has been one of the best experiences of my life. The house environment has its’ calming nature at the same time you can have the craziest experiences around Budapest with the people you meet at the Shantee. I have had an opportunity to meditate, connect with myself and others, experience different culture, talk until the dawn, build a bond, and have a good rest! I remember I was excited to discover Shantee house on the internet and right after the very first days of my arrival in 2018 I fell in love with this hostel, its owners and the surrounding atmosphere. Two years have gone since then and I am still living here and I am still in love.
This hostel has some features that keep me comfortable and happy:
1. The design of it – colorful and plant-full, these plants bring freshness and life inside the hostel, especially in winter it means a lot. Also, the spiritual statues from worldwide spiritual experiences create peaceful vibes to me. Every piece of interior design is thoughtfully made, and harmoniously fit in the environment.
2. The owners, the managers – they are in my list of the nicest people in the world I have ever met! They take care of the hostel in a way as if they themselves live here. So they always keep it comfortable for us, always quickly repair if anything gets broken or loses it’s nice look.
3. The garden! – it’s a precious pearl of the whole place. With a huge willow tree in the middle, little bamboo forest and a pond with cheerful little fountain. There are gazebo and hammocks there to sit or lie comfortably. Ah, and gorgeous magnolia that flowers in the spring and makes all this completely heavenly. I don’t know the names of the other plants but there are some more :)) oh yes one is cherry plum which I made the traditional Georgian sauce from a month ago.
4. People who I met here! – In these two years I made lifelong friends at Shantee from around the world. Somehow this hostel attracts wonderful people. I have had unforgettable days with the international people who stay here, we go hiking, travelling, pub scrawling, making international dinners or deep, enjoyable conversations about different cultures, personal development, zodiac(very controversial topics haha), music etc. And once they leave Shantee we normally keep visiting each other, so we have made a kind of Shantee-friends-worldwide-net already 😉

I stayed in Shantee House for five months during my exchange period and I must say I enjoyed it every second. The atmosphere was very welcoming from the moment I stepped in and I met lot of people that I can call nowadays close friends to me. The location was optimal to me, close to the University and same time bit further away from the city centre in quieter part of Buda. The public transportation works like a dream 24/7, so it was allways easy to get back home. Even though I lived with another people I always had my own privacy to study if I needed it and on the other there was allways someone ready to do something or to go somewhere. I would recommend the experience to everyone who is coming to Budapest for longer or shorter time.

I came to Budapest as a international student for one semester. My original plan was to stay in the Shantee House few weeks and than find a flat with the schoolmates somewhere in the city. When I stepped to the Shantee for the very first time, I realized that this place is magical. I found here many amazing people that have become very good friends. I stayed whole semester and my stay was one of the best experiences in my life. There are always many things to do… relaxing garden with hammocks and little fountain, cozy common room and everyday adventures in historical centre of Budapest or joint trips to the surrounding mountains. I recommend staying here for all the students or travellers. It will be great experience!

Shantee House – Minha casa em Budapeste
Estou no Shantee house há 2 meses e tenho um contrato de longa duração. Creio que tive muita sorte. Pois além de ser um lugar bonito, tenho recebido o melhor tratamento possível. Tenho privacidade, os serviços são ótimos, desde a recepção, até limpeza. Ótimo lugar para quem quer se sentir em casa. Pessoas de todos os lugares, mas todas compartilham uma ótima energia. Ótimas instalações, onde se pode aproveitar a estadia. Recomendo o shantee house. Ótimo lugar para ficar. Ou como dizem aqui, o melhor lugar do mundo.

I came to Shantee House in March 2014 after a stressful search for a shared home and an already disappointing experience with my old roommates for my long term training in Budapest.
Since day one I felt that I restored my peace again and my mind became clear as the place is extremely rich with spiritual statues, plants and portraits from all over the world, happy colors are everywhere and the staff is absolutely amazing, helpful and they became my second family in no time!
I had a lot of long term friends like me and all of them where considering Shantee House their second house just like me as the owner (Atilla) put a lot of love in the place that you will definitely feel the moment you stay there.
During my stay which ends this December I saw many people that came back to Shantee House for a second amazing stay and also it is the best student housing in winter (Starting from September) they offer private and shared room for affordable prices, all the rooms are bright and colorful, each one has its own unique style, each floor has a private bathroom, laundry service, WiFi, a peaceful TV room with a sea painting on the wall where you can drink special kinds of tea or you can smoke Shisha (Water pipe) and there is a wide shared kitchen with an extension to the garden which has a beautiful small lake and hammocks (lucky us!)
Also it is easily to access anywhere in Budapest with Tram 49 which is 2 minutes walk from Shantee House that goes to the city centre in Deak Ferenc Ter (in 15 Minutes), Tram 19 passes by, buses and also Metro 4 is 2 stops away.
Supermarkets like Tesco, CBA, Lidl and Allee shopping mall are near by and also it is flexible to make a delivery order for anything you wish to eat!
I absolutely recommend this “Stress Free Zone” for students in Winter time and for Tourists in Summer as I have to admit that I love this place like my own home and the staff as my own family!
